The Ph.D. program does not require any knowledge of German and knowledge of old languages depending on the major. This also makes it an attractive option for international students – for example graduates of the Master's programs in (Extended) Ecumenical Studies and in Biblical Studies.
Ph.D. students can choose from one of the following majors:
- Hebrew Bible
- New Testament and Early Christianities
- Church History/History of Christianity
- Systematic Theology
- Hermeneutics and Ethics
- Ecumenical Studies
- Practical Theology
- Religious Education
For details about the program kindly refer to our fact sheet with general information as well as the official Ph.D. regulations.
The faculty is already looking forward to welcoming its new Ph.D. students! As a first step, interested students should contact suitable supervisors – the doctoral office can help with organisational questions (promotion@ev-theol.uni-bonn.de).
