Department of Practical Theology and Religious Education
Practical Theology concerns itself with church and Christian practice in addition to religious phenomena within the larger society. It does so by teaching students to observe actual practice, attempting to understand by means of theory, and modeling good practice.
Prof. Dr. Eberhard Hauschildt’s work is comprised of the teaching of homiletics, pastoral care, social welfare work, church building, and church leadership. His research focuses are in the areas of everyday pastoral care and theology, millieus in the church, and practical theological hermeneutics. The Religious Education focus is currently led by PD Dr. Daniel Bauer.
