About the Faculty
The Faculty of Protestant Theology was founded in 1818 as one of the five original departments belonging to the University of Bonn. 200 years later the department is an exemplar of the educational ideals of Wilhelm von Humboldt: that the intertwining of research and teaching is central and life-giving to scholarship.
