With effect from 1 February 2024, PD Dr Sabrina Müller will be appointed Professor of Practical Theology. We warmly welcome her to our Faculty!
Sabrina Müller worked at the University of Zurich as Director of the University Research Centre "Digital Religion(s)" and spent research stays in England and the USA. She was also a member of the management of the Centre for Church Development (ZKE) and a private lecturer in practical theology. Prior to her current position, she worked as the theological director of the ZKE (2019-2021), postdoc (2016-2020) and pastor at the Bärteswil church (2009-2015). Müller habilitated on the topic of religious experience as a basic concept of practical theology and completed her doctorate on innovative church development.
In her research, she focuses on digital religion and theology, postcolonial and feminist theories and theologies, church theory and church development, religious identity and transformation processes as well as empirical social research in theology. She combines theory and practice and advises various national churches in Europe on change processes. Her commitment also extends to areas such as open science, open access and citizen science. It is very important to her to think practical theology internationally and integrate topics such as postcolonial, queer and feminist theories as well as digitality.
