Get to know Giuseppe
Giuseppe Comerci is a PhD student at the Department of Social Ethics.
He received his Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from the University of Milan and his Master's degree in Philosophy of the Contemporary World from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University of Milan. His master's dissertation was focused on the phenomenological description resulting from the interaction between patients and brain-computer interfaces, and the ethical and legal implications related to the use of these kinds of technologies.
During his studies, he was an invited visiting student at the Institute of Biomedical Ethics and History of Medicine of the University of Zurich, where he deepened the study of disciplines such as medical ethics and neurorights. In 2021, he joined the Intelligent Systems Ethics Group based at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. The group systematically explores the ethical, legal, and social implications of emerging technologies, with a special focus on technologies that interface, augment, mimic, or simulate the human brain and mind.
