The interdisciplinary research unit 2686 “Resilience in Religion and Spirituality. Endurance and the Formation of Powerlessness, Fear and Anxiety”, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) since 2019 focuses on the aspects of resilience that might be relevant for people facing existential crises. At our third annual conference, taking place from June 16th to 18th in Bonn, we will discuss reflections on interdisciplinary research, anthropology, health care and spirituality in relation to resilience. The Workshop “Young Voices on Resilience” will kick off the conference and aims to give first insights and to raise discussion points. Young researchers (graduate students, doctoral students, postdocs) of all disciplines are invited to present and discuss their thoughts and works on resilience in a 25 minutes talk, followed by 15 minutes of discussion. In an interdisciplinary perspective we want to present insights from theology, medicine and psychology, philosophy, sociology, ethnology and others. Possible questions could be:
- Which are best practice examples of interdisciplinary projects contributing to understand-ing resilience?
- What is the contribution of cultural theory, cultural perspectives and diversity dimensions on resilience and spirituality?
- Which role do definitions and models play in regard to resilience?
- What characteristics does an outcome need in order to be considered a “good out-come”?
- How could we describe a “good outcome” of resilience, for example in patients facing life-limiting illness with bad prognosis on survival?
- In what way can transitions to hope, consolation/comfort and gratitude be understood?
- How are spiritual practices of endurance and the formation of powerlessness linked to resilience?
