This crucial step paves the way for the second phase of the project. In this phase, Jesus' farewell discourses and the prologue of the Gospel of John will be analyzed against the backdrop of ancient religious-philosophical discourses and rhetoric and published in a second volume. The second phase of the project also includes international collaborations and residencies, as well as funding for a relevant workshop at the University of Bonn. This approval is also a special recognition and support for other relevant international seminars and research projects that are currently taking place with the initiative of the Department of New Testament Studies at the ETF of the University of Bonn.

The expert committee for theology at the DFG has approved the continuation of the third-party funded project for the research on the relationship of the Gospel of John to ancient Greek philosophy at the Protestant Theological Faculty (ETF) of the University of Bonn. The previous results of the examination of the long speeches of Jesus in John 1-12 from a history of philosophy and rhetorical perspective were successfully evaluated positively through a blind peer review and will soon be published in the form of a monograph.
